Ashleigh and Daniel's wedding was a beautiful celebration that began at the stunning St Andrew's Cathedral in Glasgow before continuing to the beautiful countryside surroundings of Cornhill Castle near Biggar.
From the emotion of their church ceremony to the relaxed celebrations at the castle, their wedding day was full of genuine moments, laughter and memories with the people closest to them.
As a wedding photographer, these are the days I love most – where the photographs aren't just about how everything looked, but about how the day actually felt.
A St Andrew's Cathedral wedding in Glasgow
Ashleigh and Daniel began their wedding day at St Andrew's Cathedral on Clyde Street in Glasgow.
The cathedral is a beautiful and historic setting for a wedding ceremony, with its impressive architecture creating a timeless atmosphere for such an important part of the day.
Church ceremonies always bring a special kind of emotion. There is the anticipation before the ceremony, the excitement as the couple see each other for the first time, the emotions of their family and friends and all those little moments happening throughout.
As a photographer, I love looking beyond the obvious moments and capturing the reactions too – a smile from a family member, a quiet glance, a laugh or a moment of emotion that might otherwise be missed.
Those photographs become an important part of the story.
From Glasgow to Cornhill Castle
After their ceremony at St Andrew's Cathedral, Ashleigh and Daniel continued their wedding celebrations at Cornhill Castle near Biggar.
The change from the city of Glasgow to the peaceful Scottish countryside gave the day a completely different atmosphere.
Cornhill Castle is a beautiful setting for a wedding, combining historic character with countryside surroundings and plenty of opportunities for photographs.
It was the perfect place for Ashleigh and Daniel to continue celebrating with their family and friends.
Cornhill Castle wedding photography
One of the things that makes Cornhill Castle such a lovely wedding venue is the variety of backdrops available for photographs.
The castle provides a timeless setting for romantic portraits, while the surrounding grounds and countryside allow for more relaxed photographs of the couple together.
My approach to wedding photography is natural and relaxed. I don't want couples to feel as though they have to spend hours posing for photographs.
Instead, I give couples a little time together, guide them when needed and let the rest happen naturally.
Sometimes the best photographs happen when you stop thinking about the camera completely.
A walk together.
A quiet moment away from the guests.
A laugh that wasn't planned.
A quick glance between the two of you.
These small moments often become some of the photographs couples treasure most.
Capturing the real moments
Throughout Ashleigh and Daniel's wedding day, my focus was on documenting the atmosphere as naturally as possible.
Of course, there are the important photographs that every couple wants – the ceremony, family photographs, portraits and celebrations.
But there are also all the moments in between.
The hugs.
The laughter.
The happy tears.
The reactions of friends and family.
The moments when nobody realised they were being photographed.
For me, these photographs are what turn a wedding gallery into a story.
Years later, you might not remember exactly what happened at a particular moment of your wedding day, but a photograph can bring that feeling straight back.
A Glasgow ceremony and Cornhill Castle reception
I love that Ashleigh and Daniel's wedding brought together two very different settings.
Their ceremony at St Andrew's Cathedral placed them in the heart of Glasgow, surrounded by beautiful architecture and the emotion of their church ceremony.
Then, their celebrations continued at Cornhill Castle, surrounded by the Scottish countryside.
It created a wonderful contrast throughout the day and gave me the opportunity to capture their wedding story in two very different environments.
From the first moments of the ceremony to the celebrations at the castle, every part of the day became part of their story.
